Seniors & Veterans

What is Senior Golf?

The “Seniors” is a relaxed and friendly competition played over 9 holes on Monday mornings from the yellow (social) tees for those over 55, or those who pretend to be! You start on 2 less than your GA handicap, and generally gain or lose shots according to our own complicated handicapping system. Results are sent to players providing a mobile phone number on Monday afternoon and displayed adjacent to green scorecards box the following Monday.

Origins of Seniors Golf Group

It was run from 1988 until 2014 under the stewardship of “youngster” Ian “Tricky” Trickett. The competition has changed marginally since 1988, but the general format remains the same. The maximum handicap is 50, we have preferred lies and there are no annual fees. All comers are welcome.

Christmas Hams Day

A feature of the competition is the annual “Christmas Hams Day”, where every regular player (minimum of 25 games) receives a ham, along with the Christmas luncheon. Weekly prizes are awarded through the Pro Shop.

Book in for a Round with the Seniors

Bookings are required through the Club bookings portal, and you are generally always assured of a game. Tee off is at 7:30 am every Monday (7:00 am during Summer), so why don’t you come and join us. Further information can be sought from Peter Ullman on 0427 851 026.

The Veterans

The Tamworth Golf Club Veterans play a 9-hole Stableford competition each Friday morning.

Bookings are made through the clubs booking portal or by contacting the Pro Shop. Hit off times are between 7am and 9am during Daylight Saving hours and 7.30am and 9.30am during Easten Standard Time hours.

To be eligible, players must be 55 years and over and there is a small joining fee. This  fee includes membership to the NSW Veterans Golf Association and Central North Veterans Golf Association which allows players to play in any Veterans competitions throughout the state.

Veteran visitors from other clubs are always welcome to play in the Friday morning competitions.
